BULLET PROOF C-6
    TRANSMISSION

    I HAVE BEEN DOING A LOT OF RESEARCH ON BUILDING THE C-6, AND HERE'S WHAT I HAVE COME UP WITH. AFTER TALKING WITH DIFFERENT COMPANIES AND READING UP ON THE C-6, I HAVE FOUND OUT HOW TO BUILD A BULLET PROOF C-6. WHAT I DID WAS TORE MINE DOWN AND STARTED OUT BY GETTING RID OF THE FORWARD 3 PINION PLANETARY AND RING GEAR AND REPLACING IT WITH A 6 PINION PLANETARY AND RING GEAR FROM A E4OD TRANSMISSION, BUT I DIDN'T STOP THERE I REPLACED THE INPUT SHELL WITH THE E4OD SHELL AND THE BIGGER INPUT SHELL GEAR. THEN I REPLACED THE REAR 3 PINION PLANETARY WITH A 4 PINION PLANETARY AND A NEW RING GEAR FROM THE E4OD. THEN I REPLACED THE SPRAG RACE WITH THE E4OD ONE WHICH IS A LITTLE SHORTER SO YOU CAN RUN TORRINGTON BEARINGS INSTEAD OF THRUST WASHERS. NOW THE POINT TO ALL THIS IS AS FOLLOWS:  THE STOCK C-6 CAN WITHSTAND 700 LB-FT OF TORQUE, BUT BY REPLACING THE ABOVE LIST OF PARTS IT WILL PROVIDE BETTER ACCELERATION, COMPRESSION BRAKING, AND HILL CLIMBING ABILITY, BUT ALSO INCREASES THE TORQUE HANDLING CAPABILITIES OF THE TRANSMISSION BY 40 PERCENT, YOU DO THE MATH ! .

    NOW TO TOP ALL THIS OFF YOU CAN ADD A C-6 SUPER SERVO TO REALLY GIVE YOU A FAST CLEAN SHIFT FROM 2nd TO 3rd. AND THEN I INSTALL A FAIRBANKS SHIFT KIT IN TO VALVE BODY, AND LAST BUT BUT NOT LEAST I RUN A ADJUSTABLE MODULATOR WITH A GREEN STRIP AND A H.D KELVAR BAND. I WOULD GIVE YOU STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO BUILD YOUR TRANSMISSION BUT I DON'T WANT TO GIVE ALL MY SECRETS AWAY.
    BELOW IS A TABLE WITH THE PARTS AND PRICES FOR THE DIFFERENT TRANSMISSION SETUPS AND PARTS WE OFFER.
    ALL OF OUR TRANSMISSION HOUSING ARE CLEANED AND THEN SANDBLASTED AND THEN RECLEANED AND THEN PAINTED.  THE FORWARD CLUTCH PACK NORMALLY HAS 4 FRICTIONS IN IT WE PUT 6 IN IT SO YOU HAVE A LONGER LIFE IN YOUR TRANSMISSION.

    NOTE: COAN REVERSE SHIFT MANUAL VALVE BODIES ARE INSTALLED UPON REQUEST AT A ADDITIONAL COST.
    NOTE: THERE IS NO WARRANTY ON ANY HIGH PERFORMANCE TRANSMISSION
    NOTE: ANYTIME YOU RUN A HI-PERFORMANCE TRANSMISSION ALONG WITH ANY KIND OF A STALL CONVERTOR YOU MUST HAVE GOOD TRANSMISSION COOLING OR YOU WILL COOK YOUR TRANSMISSION VERY QUICKLY. THE BEST SETUP I HAVE FOUND IS THE ORIGINAL A/C GRILL CONDENSER MOUNTED ON THE FRONT OF THE RADIATOR ON THE TRUCK WITH A/C SETUP. YOU CAN PLUMB THIS FOR 3/8" FUEL AND THEN YOU CAN RUN 3/8" STEEL FUEL ALONG THE FRONT BOTTOM OF THE GRILL SUPPORT.  BELOW IS A LINK TO SOME PICTURES OF HOW I SET THIS UP.

    ABOVE IS A C-6 I AM BUILDING FOR MY NEXT 5150 TRUCK. THE PICTURE TO THE LEFT SHOW WHERE I INSTALLED A COAN MANUAL REVERSE SHIFT VALVE BODY, PLUS AN E- RATIO BAND ACTUATOR. PLUS I PUSHED THE LINE PRESSURE TO A FULL 180 LB'S.
    TO THE RIGHT YOU WILL SEE WHERE I ALSO INSTALLED A COBRA R SUPER SERVO, THIS WILL GIVE FAST CLEAN SECOND TO THIRD SHIFTS.

    IN THE LEFT PICTURE YOU WILL SEE THE REVERSE -HIGH CLUTCH HUB ASSY. NOW THIS IS WHERE YOU REALLY HAVE TO KNOW WHAT TO DO BECAUSE THE STOCK C-6 ONLY COMES WITH THREE FRICTIONS AND THREE STEEL PLATES, BUT I MODIFY THEM TO TAKE 6 FRICTION PLATES AND 6 STEELS. THE PICTURE TO THE RIGHT SHOWS THE FORWARD HUB/ CLUTCH PACK WHICH HOLDS ONLY 4 FRICTION PLATES AND 4 STEELS FROM THE FACTORY SETUP. BUT I MODIFY THEM TO HOLD 6 FRICTION PLATES AND 6 STEELS. THE WHOLE POINT TO THIS IS TO HAVE MORE GRIPING AND RUN MUCH COOLER. I LEAVE MY SELF ABOUT .035 TO .045 OF CLEARANCE ON EACH ONE. YOU DO NOT WANT THEM TO TIGHT OR YOU WILL BURN THEM OUT ON START UP.

    NOW HERE IN THE LEFT PICTURE YOU WILL SEE THE WIDE RATIO PLANTARY I INSTALL TO LOWER FIRST AND SECOND GEAR DOWN. IT IS A SIX PINION GEAR PLANTARY. THEN IN THE RIGHT PICTURE I BEEF UP THE LOW REVERSE PLANTARY FRON THE STOCK ONE WHICH ONLY HAS THREE PINION GEARS TO A FOUR PINION GEAR PLANTARY.

    IN THIS PICTURE YOU WILL SEE THE INPUT  SHELL ASSEMBLY THIS WILL FIT INTO THE SIX PINION PLANTARY. THE SUN GEAR INSIDE  THE SHELL IS MUCH BIGGER THAN THE STOCK SUN GEAR IN THE C-6.


    C-6 WIDE RATIO PARTS

    C6 Low Drag, wide ratio planet gear sets. Comes with a steel 6 pinion front planet gear and a steel 4 pinion rear planet gear. This kit adapts gear train components from 4R100 and E4OD transmissions to all C6 transmissions. The six pinion front planet gear assembly will provide a 2.71 to 1 first and a 1.53 to 1 second gear ratio. What makes this C6 Low Drag / Wide Ratio gear set different from others is the short shell that allows for the use of an Alto wide Power Band and they're in stock. Torque capacity is increased by 43%. This kit contains needle thrust bearings number 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9. First gear is about 10% lower providing more acceleration and tow vehicles with more torque without changing axle ratios.

    C-6 lower geared steel forward planet gear with 6 pinion gears. First gear is geared 10% lower and second is geared 5% lower than a stock C-6 (2.71 first, 1.53 second). You get the six pinion steel planet gear, hub, bearing, ring gear and sun gear. Provides drag racers with more acceleration and tow vehicles or motor homes with more pulling power without changing axle ratios. No machining required. Cost $250.00. This kit requires a 1976 up forward clutch drum, if needed $60.00 . It also requires an E4OD sun shell, Cost $25.00 if needed. It will require the use of at least one more thrust bearing not supplied.

    Performance C6 pressure valve. Fits early 1976 down only with “clicker type” valve body. When rebuilding high performance or heavy duty C6 transmissions, it is common to find a worn boost sleeve in the “clicker type” valve body. This wear causes poor line rise, which results in erratic shift timing, reverse shudder, or direct clutch failure. This can be caused by the reciprocating boost valve wearing the inside diameter of the boost sleeve. When this occurs, oil that enters the modulated line pressure orifice leaks past the boost valve and exhausts through the reverse orifice, resulting in poor or no line rise. The outside diameter of the boost sleeve may allow some leakage through the valve body, which can result in insufficient line rise. Cost $60.00

    These are the driven gears for all Ford standard transmissions and all Ford transfer cases with speedometer cables attached. These will not interchange with automatic gears. We have 16 to 20 tooth gears in stock. Cost $15.00


     
     
     

    Short shell for the C6 wide ratio gear sets. This shell makes it possible to use a wide Alto Power Band with a wide ratio C6 gear set.   Cost $60.00






    C6 direct drum that holds 5 full thickness clutches and a full thickness backing plate. The OEM drum only held 3 or 4 full thickness clutches. This is the drum the intermediate band rides on. Cost 75.00

     
     


     


    C6 / E4OD / 4R100 forward drum that holds 6 RED EAGLE  clutches and a red eagle power pack kit plate. Cost $55.00







    These C6 Power Bands are 1/2 inch wider than a stock C6 band.
